Easy DIY Hot Chocolate Jars

DIY Hot Chocolate

This year, I really wanted to spend time making presents that I'd be giving to friends and family. Homemade gifts are such a nice idea, especially if they feel personal. I also wanted the idea to be something that didn't just sit on the shelf taking up space- I wanted it to serve a purpose and be useful. It would need to be something that everyone on my list would enjoy, but also something that wouldn't break my budget. With the help of Pinterest and my friend Taylor (she's the best for brainstorming sessions), I decided I would make little jars of hot chocolate! It was so easy, and I only spent about $25 making 16 of them. Read on to see how I did it!   Jars: Dollarama ($3 for a 4 pack) Cocoa Powder…

Gift Wrapping Inspo

This year I decided to give myself some creative freedom and wrap all my presents differently. My holiday Pinterest board helped to inspire me, and now I want to inspire you! I think everyone's to-do list this week includes gift wrapping, so here are a few simple DIY ideas to help you get started. Gold Painted I got my inspiration from this post by My Domaine. I took a flat tipped paint brush and some gold paint, laid it out flat, and painted until I got the desired effect. The faster you go, the better. All Wrapped Up I liked this effect so much, I used it on two presents! I just picked up some string from HomeSense and wrapped it around the package multiple times. I also added a few Christmas-y details that I found…

Why My Bedroom Window Faces East

I have never been a morning person. I prefer to spend those early hours snuggled up under my comforter, with a good book or a string of Netflix shows to keep me content until I'm ready to get up. But recently, I've been feeling the need to be more productive with my days, as well as be more mindful. I wanted to be able to have enough time in the day to check everything off my to-do list, but I didn't want anything to feel rushed, hectic or overly stressful. I knew that if I was going to work this habit into my routine, I'd have to start waking up earlier and using my mornings to their fullest potential. Feel the Rhythm We've all heard of circadian rhythms. These rhythms are physical, mental and…

Spotlight On Spot Treatments

I'm human, therefore I suffer from skin imperfections (which is putting it really delicately because some mornings I wake up with actual volcanos on my face that make me want to disappear under the covers forever). It's taken forever for me to find products I love, but I've finally created a system that has kept my skin calm and I want to share it with you guys! Skin Type: Dry/Combination Night Before: I use coconut oil to remove makeup and wash my face before applying any products! It's naturally antibacterial and antifungal, and I find it doesn't clog my pores. Step 1: Burt's Bee's Natural Acne Solutions Targeted Spot Treatment I love this product because it's packed with soothing ingredients (tea tree, calendula, yarrow and parsley extracts) as well as tough ingredients (naturally occurring salicylic…

Happiness Secrets: Finding Direction In Your Life

Looking back on the past few years of my life, I don't have many regrets.
