The Foundation – Josie Maran

My skin is indecisive. Some days it’s extremely dry, other days it’s combination. It’s weather and stress level dependent, and it sometimes gives me a lot of unnecessary anxiety.

I’ve been wearing makeup for a long time now, and once I started working part-time, I wasn’t afraid to spend a little bit on the most important makeup I was wearing- my foundation. I’d tried every drugstore brand I could get my teenage hands on, making the same mistakes more often than not: foundation that was too dark, too light, too dry, too much coverage, not enough coverage. Foundation that melted off my face and foundation that went on perfectly and proceeded to end the day with orange streaks all over my jawline. Talk about a nightmare.

But through trial and error, I have found the one foundation that I have bought not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES. In a row! I can’t believe it!

Let me clarify that I am not a makeup artist, and I’m not endorsed for this post. I am also not the first to review it, but I wanted to chime in with my own praise.

This foundation is a medium-to-full coverage liquid that contains 100% pure argan oil. What it doesn’t contain are parabens, sulphates, and phthalates. It’s cruelty-free, the packaging is eco-friendly (think recycled containers) and it’s made with natural, ethically sourced organic ingredients. It also comes in 14 shades, one to suit nearly every complexion.

I wear shade RG10 Supernatural, for fair to light skin tones with neutral undertones. I always use a damp beauty blender to apply, and depending on the day/glow level I’m looking to achieve, I set with a loose powder (I like this one).

It feels super hydrating and doesn’t look cakey. In the summer, I mix with a little bit of sunscreen and it looks beautiful as a tinted moisturizer. My skin has pretty much stopped breaking out, and I have stopped freaking out mid day because I can’t even stand to look in the mirror. All wins!

It retails for $55.00 CAD at Sephora, and I would honestly recommend it to anyone that experiences similar skin issues. NOTE: try before buying if you have oily skin!

If you’ve tried it, how did you like it? Let me know in the comments!
